The new RARE data centre, designed and built by Future-tech for the University of Hertfordshire, has won another award for its innovative design and impressive environmental credentials.

The Green Enterprise IT (GEIT) Awards are the Uptime Institute’s highest honour. The Institute grants these Awards to projects, ideas, and products that significantly improve energy productivity and resource use in IT.

The Awards are open to applicants across the world; each case study is carefully judged by a committee of independent experts. Award winners will be honoured at the high-profile Uptime Institute Symposium in Santa Clara, CA in May 2011.

A principal objective of the GEIT Awards is to educate the data centre and IT industries in effective ways to reduce energy consumption by highlighting innovation and best practices. Winners are provided with a platform to share their experiences and insights at the Institute Symposium and receive peer recognition and significant public relations recognition through media coverage of the Institute Awards.
